Men's Long Jump Highlight's Stockholm Diamond League Meeting

By Adam Kopet

The men's long jump at Sunday's Stockholm Diamond League meeting could prove to be a big showdown between South Africa's Luvo Manyonga and Cuba's Juan Miguel Echevarria.

Last week at the Rome Diamond League meeting, Echevarria took the lead in round two with a leap of 28-0 (8.53m). Manyonga immediately responded with a jump of 28-1.75 (8.58m).

Now just over a week later, the pair will be looking to renew the rivalry. Manyonga is the reigning IAAF World Outdoor champion, but Echevarria, who is only 19, won the IAAF World Indoor title in March.

However, 2016 Olympic champion Jeff Henderson, South Africa's Ruswahl Samaai and Australia's Henry Frayne will be looking for an upset.

Also competing in Stockholm is Armand "Mondo" Duplantis in the men's pole vault. This will be Duplantis' first Diamond League competition of the year. He previously competed at the Prefontaine Classic, finishing second with a clearance of 18-8.75 (5.71m), but it was not a Diamond League event.
